We’re seeking a Director of Client Services to serve as a Fractional CFO and team lead - someone who brings discipline, strategic thinking, and a passion for financial excellence. In this role, you’ll shape financial strategy, optimize operations, and drive exceptional outcomes for our clients in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will lead a high-performing team of accounting and compliance professionals. You’ll be accountable for delivering high-quality financial services, owning client relationships, and mentoring your team. You'll also collaborate cross-functionally with our Business Development team to ensure seamless onboarding and growth of client accounts.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & CFO Support
Serve as the strategic financial partner to clients, including leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Provide high-level insight and financial guidance as a fractional CFO to clients.
Client Management
Drive client satisfaction, retention, and referrals through expert relationship management. Anticipate client needs and tailor services to exceed expectations. Offer both technical and strategic advisory.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of accounting and compliance experts. Inspire and guide the team to achieve both individual and collective goals, particularly in high-pressure situations.
Accounting Oversight
Supervise the preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports and ensure integrity of general ledger and reconciliations. Oversee the accuracy and completeness of client financial data.
Compliance Oversight
Ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial reports, adhering to the highest standards while minimizing errors. Implement best practices to maintain top-tier compliance across the team.
Process Improvement
Lead the adoption of innovative technologies and drive initiatives to enhance processes and efficiency. Consistently seek operational improvements that benefit clients and the organization.
Business Development Collaboration
Collaborate with the BD team to support client presales activities and onboarding. Contribute to the development of winning proposals and presentations.
Compliance and Deadline Adherence
Ensure the team meets all regulatory and compliance deadlines, effectively managing workloads to complete projects on time. Prioritize tasks to align with both client and company goals in a fast-paced environment.
Cultural Leadership
Cultivate a culture of respect, integrity, and a client-first mindset across our clients, team, and company. Promote professional development, encourage positive engagement, and uphold the company’s values in every interaction.
Qualifications
Experience
7-10 years in accounting, finance, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience functioning as a CFO, Controller, or senior finance/accounting leader with a proven track record of successful process improvement and business transformation initiatives is strongly preferred. Experience in leading change management is essential.
Skills
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. CPA certification a plus.
Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Advanced experience in technology, process improvement, and innovation.
Proven business transformation experience.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a focus on accountability and performance under pressure.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration abilities.
Expertise in client management and business development collaboration.
Strategic thinker with the ability to align client services with broader business objectives.
